I had the day off on Monday and decided to fish a little dock in Medina. Went out around 5-6 o'clock and fished for about an hour. I remember as a kid (I'm 28) catching mostly 6"-12" trout from the shores of Lake Washington and not much else. Now a day it seems like a trout from shore is the exception not the rule. Apparently, this is because the water quality is now better and allows for more species to thrive? Or is it because so many fish have been introduced? Either way, i hate not catching trout anymore but the catch rate has definitely increased. I've caught mostly perch, some smallmouth and Squawfish/Pikeminnow. Last trout I caught from shore was probably 8 years ago. Anywho, today's fishing wasn't great but i did have one strike. The fish was BIG but for the lackluster fight it gave me I knew instantly it was no trout and was a Pikeminnow. Probably 17"-20" in length and real fat. The size of the ones you see hanging around Lake Chelan docks nowadays. I'm curious to know if anyone out there is still having any luck catching game fish from shore? A few year's back I saw a foreign guy using Cheese at Chism Beach and had about 2 large trout. That's about it. Any feedback helps since i don't get out on the boat much. Thanks! -Nick
