Was out @Deer from 11:00 - 3:00, & got sunburned as hell. But I also caught some Smallmouth, & the weather was amazing so a little pain is well worth it. All of the SMB were right around 2 lbs. The one in the pic was 2 lb- 3 oz. I did see a couple nice 4-5 lbers though, & saw a BIG Largemouth as well. I caught all of them on jerk baits, that's all I could get them to hit. Also caught a couple Rainbow's in the process. I talked with two guys who were trolling for Mackinaw, they had (3) in the boat & I watched as they netted another that was well over the 10 pound mark. There's some fillet out 8-12 lbers in the shallows at the public access too. So it seems the Mack 's are biting if anybody wants to go try & catch some. They were catching em on Apex's in the channel. The Smallmouth are in little wolf packs right now, I'd hook up & 5 - 8 others would chase him to the boat. There not making beds yet, but it looks like they will be soon. I'm guessing in the the next week or so, as they're already up in their traditional spawning areas. If the weather stays nice maybe sooner. Good Luck Guy's...& Gal's Too
