My brothers and I got a late start and didn't arrive at the lake until nearly noon. I had left Milton at 7am and towed the boat to their camp site at the upper end of Riffe Lake. After a good breakfast it was off to Scanewa and we launched and headed out to find some trout. The People at Bob's in Longview said to follow the channel out to a log jam and that the trout were biting. Since none of us had ever fished this lake, we decided to do what they said. First we had to do the obligatory getting stuck in the mud. When they say that there are very shallow spots in mid lake they aren't kidding. We finally made it to the log jam and eased into the old branches and tied up. We all were using shrimp and right away my pole started to jump. I grabbed it and set the hook. First fish of the day, at least I won't be skunked. Reeled in a 15 inch Whitefish. I haven't caught a Whitefish since I was a boy. Had to keep it, will smoke it. From that point on it was just a great day, We took turns hooking up it seemed. The shrimp seemed to be the bait of the day, but one brother did catch his fish on powerbait. By days end, which was pretty early for us, as our wives and our mom and our other brother were all waiting for us back at Riffe, we were a little burnt, a little hungry, and thoroughly happy.. We spent the day, four brothers, catching fish, and watching the Ospreys ( who had a much better day fishing than we did) and playing "First Liar doesn't stand a Chance". One of the best days of the summer. We caught 8 trout ( mostly in the 10 to 12 inch range) and they had them for the next days breakfast. All I can say is I am ready to head back for the next fishing expedition at Scawena.
I hope you all have as much fun as we did.

....Here is to only having jerks on the wet end of the line.....
