Dad had the carb in his boat rebuilt on Saturday, so he wanted to get out on the lake and see how the boat was running. What better excuse to go fishing than that!? Even better, Mom was onboard for a Mother's Day fishing trip :)

So we had breakfast and a relaxing morning, taking our time loading up the boat. We got to Lake Stevens around 1pm, got the boat in the water, and dad did a test lap around the lake while we set up rods. When he was done playing in his now great running boat, we started trolling on the East side of the lake. Took awhile to get our first hit, which mom got to fight and land. A nice 12"er Kept trolling back and forth in front of the cove over 80' of water, and picked up a few more fish here and there. Dad got a nice cuttroat, and Cody got a great 15.5" koke! (don't know where the pic of that one went)
Right at about 7pm mom landed a 13"er when Codys rod went off... he was fighting that one when another surface rod went off. Double! Lost one of them, and another rod went off! We lost all three fish, but for some reason everyone decided we needed to head home for dinner. So we didn't get to keep fishing the hot bite that had just started.

All in all, we brought home 3 kokes and a cutthroat. It was a fun day on the water, with just a little bit of wind, and great company. We missed and lost a good number of fish. I will be going through all of my rigs, and re-tying them with hooks I trust before the derby this Saturday. Mom said she had fun, and enjoyed catching her first kokanee, now to get to work and get my own boat ready for the derby.

We ran 5 rods, two surface and three on downriggers, between 15' and 40'
Using Dick Nite Dodgers, wedding rings and hootchies.
