Another good day at Williams - 6th day this season. Always limit out, generally throw a bunch back that I catch on fly's and spinners - I tend to switch from trolling Buggers, bobber fishing nymphs, throwing roostertails and still fish with just powerbait if the prior methods are not working too well. In previous years I used powerbait and worms, but I don't think it makes any difference having worms.

About 1 in 4-5 fish caught are beautiful 16-19 inch beauties, the rest 12 inch stockers. Grats to WSF&G nice job on increasing fish size. Fishing has slowed a tad since the opener, a few less caught trolling Buggers here and there, but still fishing is still excellent just about any time of day. Still fishing I swore by chartruse power bait, but today they gobbled pale orange. I've tried black, black red, black green, and black yellow buggers - I can't really tell if one is better than another. Although I catch a few with roostertails - use green and pink, I really never spend a lot of time casting - I just don't think it is worth the time - maybe I don't know the places to fish spinners.

about how deep are you working your wooly buggers?? i try fly fishing there a lot and have never really done all that well. Once i give up fly fishing i end up stringing up a worm and i kill it out there everytime especially if you know where the underwater river comes into the lake. Instead of just globbing the worm on your hook try getting one of those worm stringers (im not sure what they are called exactly) but once you get it the way its supposed to its almost like bass fishing with a plastic worm. Well, early season I trolled relatively shallow. A kind gentleman I met at Fish lake early in the season gave me a 6-pack fly and a olive wolly that he tied himself. Those two flies consistently out produce the buggers for me - although I have seen people who do really well with smaller (size 12ish) black/yellow buggers. I agree with the worms/power bait at Williams, that is my old standby. I have not done much in the past month at Williams since I discovered how amazing West Medical is this year - and it is closer to Spokane to boot.
