We hit Curlew Lake at the perfect time! The weather was excellent, the water was calm and the trout were biting. Limits were caught the first 6 days with ease. We trolled the southern end of the lake from just north of the boat launch at the state park to the south shore near the east shore and off the east sides of the southern islands. The most successful setups were green wedding rings and hoochies about 8" behind a rainbow dodger. They were all double snelled rigs adorned with night crawlers. We trolled about as slow as possible with a half ounce banana weight to get towards the bottom. The fish averaged 16" and 2 lbs. The meat was bright and firm.
We stayed at the state park and can't say enough good things about it. It's nearly empty this time of the year, had coin-op showers, was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back!
