Got off work a bit early, invited my wife, Boni, to go fishing with me (actually "watching me fish", as she is recovering from shoulder surgery and can't use her arm yet). Anyway, a beautiful warm afternoon and I thought the sun would do her some good. Headed north and arrived at Gissberg South, at about 2:45 PM, were fishing by 3:00. Quite a few fishermen (and women) already at their stations around the lake, so began fishing at the southeast corner. Rigged up two poles, one with chatrreuse Power Eggs, the other with salmon red. About 10 minutes in, line went taunt and reeled in a 11" Rainbow on the red. Switched the other over to red, and the action was non-stop from that point on. Several bites, several long-distance releases, and total of four trout caught and left the lake at 5:00 just as a strong and chilly wind began to blow from the north. All Rainbows were in the 10" to 11" range.
Fun to watch all the people using the park on a very warm afternoon. Saw several fish caught off the shoreline, only one of several boaters was able to hook anything that I could see, and he lost a nice fish at the net. Watched a beaver prune a branch from a fallen Alder and carry it off to munch on for dinner. Lots of "cotton" from the Cottonwood trees on the surface, had to keep wiping my line clean from the stuff. Grilled the trout on Tuesday evening, and they were delicious! PTL!
