5/29/2013 7:35:00 AMI launched from nine mile resort and headed down river. Right now the crappies are moving shallow to spawn so any fallen trees or docks can hold them. In August the lake will be loaded with small perch and small mouth bass from this years spawn, these will be the primary forage for the larger fish in the lake. The weed beds will also be in full bloom so you should be able to anchor up near one of these and catch perch with worms. Once you catch a small perch just chop it up for bait, perch love to eat their own kind. I don't know where you will be renting a house but there are numerous lilly pad and milfoil weed beds to choose from as you head down the lake.
Rocky,
I can't remember the number of rods I have broken over the years it is just part of fishing kind of like losing jigs while crappie or walleye fishing. Some days you just want to grab a handful of jigs and throw them overboard to appease the jig gods. I must have lost at least ten crappie jigs last Saturday. If you want to catch crappies you have to get in the thick of the fallen trees or up under the docks, you are going to lose jigs. Same thing with walleye fishing if you don't occasionally lose a jig you probably aren't in the right place.
