After my so-so fishing at West Medical Lake this morning, I went to the Clear Lake Recreation Area (the Fairchild AFB military resort at the southwest corner). From their Fishing Dock, I cast and retrieved a 1/4-oz. silver Kastmaster slab jig (cast and retrieved in a sideways jigging/twitching motion). In 3-1/2 hours of fisihing, I did "catch and release" on five small trout (three Rainbow Trout each ~12" long, and two Brown Trout 9" and 12" long). I had three fish come off of my lure and I had three more "bumps" on the moving lure. There was a worm fisherman on the dock 30 feet away from me that was using a bobber, and although he caught fish too, I got more than him in the same amount of time. All of the four bait fishermen who were on the dock caught the same size fish (about 12" long, mostly Rainbow Trout). The tube fishermen who were floating about 100 yards away weren't catching anything.
