We arrived late Wed. morning and decided to try Blue Lake in spite of the late hour. I've never seen trout fishing like that. Fish after fish, mostly in the 12-14" range. We were trolling leaded line with fly rods, the lures we used were Hot Shots and Flat Fish. The next day I switched to a Double Whammy Wedding Ring with crimped barbs. I lost some, but found with the single barbless hooks it was much easier for catch & release.
Lots of wind early in the morning on Thursday, but it died down within a couple hours.
After we left Blue lake we drove up above Sun Lakes State Park to the Dry Falls interpretive center- SO GLAD WE DID! Fascinating with a breath taking view. I'd highly recommend the 13 minute movie they offer. It would have been a pity to have left the area, never understanding the forces that created it.
