Got up way early to go fishing on Lake Stevens, and told JoAnn "We should have got up earlier!". We had our lines running at 5:25am, and in no time at all had two fish in the boat, a 12" caught at 25 ft on a pink hoochie and grub, and at 50 ft a 13.5" on an amber wedding ring and shrimp. Then things died down for us, as we caught one at 6:40, a 12" fish on the pink hoochie and grub, and at 8:10 at 45 ft, our biggun of the day, a 14.5" on the amber wedding ring on shrimp. Also lost one at 7:35 on the amber wedding ring with shrimp.
But, as has been our routine on Stevens, we continue to motor by guys that report they are done fishing at 8am with their limit of ten fish, and we try to understand what we are doing (wrong). Met fellow WLer' Kurt and he gave a few tips, but by then the hot morning bite had slowed to a trickle. I sure would like to be that guy to pull up the gear at 8am with limits. Oh well, I'll take the four fish and it was a nice morning on the water. I ended up crashing for a couple hours in the afternoon. Three days of fishing has me tired!
