Haven't been to Lake Sawyer in forever so decided to give it a try. The park charges $5.00 to launch, but they have a convenient pay station that takes cash, change, credit or debit cards. Fishing began great. I was throwing a Strike King Bitsy Jiig with a twin tailed grub trailer. On the second dock to the right of the boat launch I hooked into a smallmouth that easily topped the 3 lb mark. Very strong fish. I don't know how long I had it on without seeing it. It just pulled deep for what seemed forever. Was actually a little disappointed when I finally saw it. I thought it was much larger. But smallmouth do have a tendency to fight bigger than they are. Unfortunately, she came unbuttoned just as I was about to lip her. Obviously she didn't want her picture taken. But that was it. Never got another bite.

Darn, and I only got a 3/4 pounder off that dock this morning just before heading home at 8am. I did get a 1 pounder and a 2.84, all smallies, all on crankbaits, no bites on the senko. Someday I'll go with a dropshot again. Were you in a blue boat?
