Fished this lake for the first time with my fishing buddy. Tried to land some of those large trout I seen being posted using my fly rod.

Failed to land any trout, only landed some small perch and one small bass. Water was warm at 64 degrees on the surface. Focused most of my time in deeper water around 20 feet. Fished the lake for two hours and decided to hit another lake.

Fishing buddy had the same results.

Any suggestions where the trout hide out on this lake?

Boat or shore? Folks routinely catch trout from shore by the boat launch. Others fish from the public docks on the East side of the lake. I caught a very nice dark, holdover rainbow out of the lily pads on a bass lure one day. I'm not a Cassidy trout expert by any means, but it appears to be an early/late type fishery. My son and I were out early (6:00AM) trying for bass one morning last week,, and saw trout rising all over the lake. We were in a boat and noted the most activity 100 yds or so offshore and down the middle of the lake toward the S end. By 8AM or so the surface action had died off. Don't know if that info will help or not.

I'd say "boat or float tube.. Early AM (6 at latest), watch surface action, but start out about 100 yds off boat launch." Good luck!

about 100 feet straight out from the boat launch is where the trout stack up, I can limit out in 45 minutes on a good day, twice that long on a bad day. The best is when a crappie or perch grabs your bait, taste way better than stocker trout!

20 feet deep, i think that's as deep as the lake gets, i haven't taken my boat out on cassidy, but i know the trout i catch are always in around 10 feet of water or less. Check out the lake map on this website, it shows the depths.

Great info, thanks.

I float tube and I guess we were way to deep. The deepest we graphed was 21 feet. As the saying goes the early bird gets the worm.

I've been there a couple times and caught a few trout, but only when we changed speed. If you find a fish on a fish finder try making a turn, speeding up, or slowing down. If you don't have a fish finder try going faster than normal. Hope this helps. Tight Lines!

Also try trolling Olive Colored Woolley Buggers on a sinking fly line or trolling F03 Rapalas in a Silver or Perch Color.
