Got a new rod holder to try out, so was excited to test it. Works pretty good. Keeps things somewhat organized actually.

Anyways, fishing started off very slow. Started fishing at a little after 9AM. In 2 hours, I landed 1 perch and had 1 perch follow a crank. No signs of anything else.

11AM rolls around. I tie on a new setup that I haven't used for the year yet. I toss it behind a deep dock and I see a decent SMB follow but wouldn't bite. I follow up with a dropshot/tube combo. Nada. I move back a bit and cast to a different spot. I notice a line loop on my reel. So I'm fixing that. I reel in the slack and I notice my line has moved from where I casted.... I set the hook and fish on! Just a little SMB, maybe 9" but a bass is a bass. It bit on the tube. I make the same exact cast. Let it soak and I see my line moving again. Fish on!!! Another SMB, a little bit bigger. 10-11". 2 in the exact same spot. Also bit on the tube. Hmmmmm

I continue working around that area for several mins with different lures without anything happen. Then I noticed a small school of fingerlings jumping nearby along a weedline. Couldn't tell what they were, silverish. I toss my lure past them. Reeling it in, I could feel them nipping. I make another cast and fish on!!! Feels decent. About a 16" chunker SMB. 2lb 3oz

A couple more casts and fish on again! I'm on fire. 2 hours of no bass. All of a sudden ,4 in 15mins. This one was also about 16" SMB. Weighed 2lb 3oz also. I thought maybe it was the same fish caught.... But then I noticed a little wound on the other side. Don't remember seeing that on the previous fish.

I cast out and as my lure is getting close to the boat, I feel nips. I look and see it's a nice ~16-17" trout chasing and nipping at my lure. Couldn't connect though. Attacked it 3 or 4 times before it gave up.

A few more casts and WOW, another fish! No way, lol. Only a 13" SMB, but it counts! So now, it's 5 bass in 30 mins. Woot!

Several more casts and fish on again! Oh no, it fells like it popped off. Wait, there's some dragging.... a small squawfish! Left the boat as a bleeder....

The wind has settled down a little bit. I really want to catch something on my topwater, so I start tossing that along side a dock next to some lilies. No reaction. I figure I'll try the hot lure. I feel it get caught in some weeds. I rip it and let it sink... BAM! FIsh on. Feels like a really nice fish. I get it closer and see it's a LMB. BONUS! Pretty good size one. ~18" but skinny. Obviousy post-spawn. Only weighed 3lb 8oz.

About 15 mins later, I get another SMB. Just a little guy. Another 13" on so. Bit on a weighted soft plastic. Pitched it right next to a dock and line started swimming away immediately. I ran the hot lure past it first without a reaction.

So in 1 hour and this stretch of area that's about ~50 yards, I landed 6 SMB, 1 LMB, and 1 squawfish. Amazing hour, lol.

Then that was it. Bite just died on me. I saw a couple of small SMB swimming by, but they weren't reacting or I already caught them... lol. Lasted about an hr.

Eventually I get another bite. I pitch my drop/tube combo and SMB gets the tube. Hmmmm. It's a new tube. The SMB seem to love it. Just a little guy. 13" or so.

It's 1PM now and I start seeing little fish surfacing. I get closer and see it's a big school of bluegills, crappie, perch and I believe small trout.

I setup my trout/panfish combo. Toss out a small jig and grub. They keep nipping at it, but I guess they are too small to take the hook. Then I finally get 1 hooked. Wow, it's actually a pretty big crappie. My biggest to date. About 11".

Fished for 1 more hour and no more action. Did spot a pair of deer going door to door, or should I say, lawn to lawn.
