The word must be out: Free stuff at Lenice, Nunnely, and Merry. Vehicles are being burglarized on a weekly basis, and glass from broken windows is all over the parking lot. I know of four vehicles that were broken into this last week alone, including one that occurred June 29th at 1:15 in the afternoon. In this case, a fisherman was in a trailer at the end of the parking lot and heard a window break. He was unable to get the plate number as the vehicle sped away.

I provided the Grant County Sheriff's office with the plate number of a vehicle, with four young lads in it, that just happened to be parked in the Lenice parking lot when I returned to my vehicle on the 30th. They obviously weren't there to fish, and there is a good chance that I ruined their opportunity. The GCSO advised me that they don't have the man-power to patrol that area on a regular basis.

This is a problem that doesn't seem to have an easy anser, as the parking areas to all three of these lakes are not within eye sight of the lakes. Take the time to keep your personal items out of sight before setting out to the lakes, and please report plate numbers of all suspicious to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
