Seldom am I disappointed by West Medical, but this time a near SKUNK did occur to me and my wife. Light, tap...tap bites were the frustration of the day. My wife did catch a 11" planter (released), but the only other fish was my smolt sized fish that I somehow hooked. So what happened to those 1,250, 1.5 lb. fish stocked for Father's Day? None of my fellow bank anglers appeared to be doing well; except for one angler with three fish. Usually, I'm that guy...Not this day. The refreshing thing was the general lack of overt litter in our immediate area and a lot of families with Dads and Moms taking their kids fishing. Also, everyone was very well behaved. A young woman with a cat on a leash was the amusement of the day. The cat refused the leash stuff and the young woman ended up carrying it everywhere.

As someone who has fished W. Medical alot the past month there is no doubt that the fishing has slowed down to a crawl the past week or so compared to the first month of the season which was the best that I can ever remember. Regarding the Triploids, they were released a week early and I believe a lot of them were caught since they were aggressively feeding. The fishing pressure this year because of the fabulous start has been high.
