I love it when things fall together!
A guide friend of mine put the word out she had an open boat for a 1/2 day on Lake Stevens for Friday morning to fish for Kokanee. I jumped on the chance to get out on the lake with my 4 year old daughter (Gringita) and good friend. Gringita and I hit Safeway the day before and she got to choose the snacks for the day. Donuts, muffins, hot chocolate and fish crackers (of course) and we were set. We were on the water and fishing about 8:30am and it wasn't long before Gringita was reeling in the 1st fish, then another, then another and so on, and so on. Even when dad impaled his thumb with a hook, she didn't care, she was reeling in fish while he pulled it out. Bite was fairly constant till about 10 when it slowed enough for Gringita to take a little nap and let dad get one (which turned out to be a 23" Triploid). She woke up and reeled a couple more in and about 12:30 decided she was ready to go home (it was her call - not ours). Finally tally was five nice Kokes, 2 little ones and the Trip kept. We lost a 2nd Trip and lost count of how many smaller Kokes and trout we C&R'd.
The day was nice, a little cloudy, comfortable but not blazing hot.
Big thanks to my friend - she is not a sponsor so I can't post her business info here, but if anyone is interested in a great guide that is awesome with kids PM me and I will pass on her info.

Thanks for posting GP. It pays to have a guide who know's what she/he is doing. I was out there friday morning too with one of my dogs tagging along and I threw everything at them and nothing to show for. I spotted fish on the finder. Fished at depths from 25 feet all the way to 90 feet using various flasher colors, various spin-glows in pink with double hooks tipped with Berkley maggots and no fish willing to play. I'm fearing that using my 9.9 Merc to troll may be my downfall by going too fast.

Any suggestions or advise on what was successful for your guide??

Nerka - did you have the 9 mo old golden? If so we were launching when you were pulling out. We were running 5 rods. 1 surface and 4 on DRs. in the morning we were running 10, 15, 20 & 25. Stuck with 20, 25 for 1/2 the morning then dropped down to 40 & 45 later to try and get out of the little fish. DickNite flashers 12" leader and various colors of spinner/beads double hooks tipped with corn marinated in a secret sauce. As far as where - not familiar with the lake yet so all I can really is sometimes we were with the other boats and sometimes not.
Mike - thanks been working on the "formula" that will keep her entertained and think I've got it worked out fairly well. Between work and vacation I've been out of touch. Should be settling back into my old groove here now, we'll have to get together soon.

All I had for the longest time was my 40HP Merc which obviously trolled way to fast. Until I was able to get a kicker, I drug 2 Home depot buckets behind the boat. With the 2 buckets, me and a mate, I was trolling between 1.2 and 1.6 mph.
