Squatch and i headed out to American lake today... have only fished this lake a couple of times... many years ago... now that we have a boat, there we be a lot more fishing...lol...

So first off not the best start of a fishing day...Rodlocker lid slammed down on one of squatches poles while getting them all out and ready to fish... I already have purchased a replacement for him...since i broke it...then about 5 cast into the fishing had a strike, missed it and bounced the rod off my forehead and knocked my sunglasses into the water...
about !0 minutes later while throw a spinnerbait.. hooked into a 1.5 lb smallie... boated that... and continued fishing...

don't know what we did to piss off the fish gods but all we caught the rest of the day were rock bass... and i mean a crap load of them... lost count... and we moved twice to different areas. and switched techniques a couple of times...


We will be going back and trying our luck there again... . soon...

That sucks about the bad part. I broke a rod 2 or 3 years ago from closing a lid on it. Good thing it only costs $30 or so. The fish are there just seem to be kinda picky. Altho I did catch 4 Smallies from one dock today, 2 from one spot on the dock and 2 on the other 2 corners.

American Lake used to be my smallmouth go-to lake. But it's only problem is the rockbass. I don't care if you're fishing the shallows, or thirty feet of water, catching one smallmouth requires going through a multitude of rockbass bites. I know it doesn't make a hill of beans difference, but everyone I catch I dispatch for the Eagles, Ospreys, and Seagulls. They eat well when I've fished American. Though the smallmouth I've caught on American average bigger, I now fish Lake Tapps if for any reason, just to get away from those pesky rockbass.
