Hit the lake at about 5:30 AM. Launched the boat with a buddy of mine. We specifically targetted bass around the banks avoiding the rope slide due to Cadets training. We threw out a variety of baits and managed to catch quite a few small Largies on spinners and topwater crankbaits. I fished a jig with craw trailer and managed to get a few small largemouths to bite and brought them to the boat. The most luck I had with anything of size was caught on the jig and craw in a blue/black color. We saw numerous 3+ lb fish around the edges at about 11 AM but none would bite, due to them seeing us there. We doubled back and got out of LOS of them and I tossed in my bait and landed a nice 3lb Largie. As we were heading back to the launch approx. 12PM I tossed my bait and got a HARD bite and brought to the boat what looked to be a 5+ lb Largie and spat the hook. Overall a great day, was terribly cold, but still great.

until now i have never heard of this lake... On JBLM... so only military personnel or those that can get on base can fish it... should see very little pressure... good luck.... this morning was perfect weather for around here... shorts and flip flops for us and a hoodie... lol...

Used to fish Sequalitchew a lot when I was stationed at McChord in the late 80's and early 90's. It was always a quality bass lake because of the salmon smolts they used to raise up at the north end of the lake. They used to just have the corner of the lake netted off and the bass would get in there and chow down, eventually they put in floating net pens.

This lake receives more pressure than you think. There are quite a few people that come out there and keep everything they catch. I mean everything, I've seen a 3-4 inch largemouth put on a stringer and brought home. It's quite sad. The lake is still very fishable, but be ready to catch a lot of smaller largemouths. I've taken a few trips and never really caught anything 'big' here. Still a super fun trip always hauling in some fish to the boat.
