what part of the lake are you fishing?

@ Bmastro777 get yourself a nice sonar unit and you will greatly improve your fishing on that lake. Smallies are holding all over that lake, you just need a sonar unit to find some offshore humps or drops, find the weedline and troll or cast along it with a carolina rig, deep crankbait, or football head. you will get fish. thats the best i can tell you. its to hard to describe where to fish at. there are so many good spots that hold fish.

I couldn't have said it any better than motodmast. This time of the year a graph recorder is a must. Then its just a matter of finding the sharp drops off ridges, points, humps and shorelines. A good way to figure out some locations to start is go to the topo map section on this site. There is a topo map of Lake Tapps that a gentleman was kind enough to mark the better areas to fish. Believe me, these are areas we all fish. Another thing to do is go to Google Earth and zoom in on Lake Tapps. The satellite photo shows the pale green areas, which are shallow points, ridges and such, and the blue water is where the water deepens. The fish hold off to the sides of these. Lastly, its just plain detective work from one day to the next, finding the depth the majority of the fish seem to be holding at. I always start out at what depth worked the last time and go from there. Right now a shallower pattern at around 10 to 12 feet is working in the first hour or two. As the day brightens and the bite slows, I'm moving off to around 18 feet. Later in the summer they usually move out as far out as 25 feet and deeper. It's just looking for that daily pattern. Sorry, there's no magic answer or location.
