Finally caught my first kokanee ever! Used a silver and red flasher with a mini squid tipped with a worm. 1 oz weight about 75 feet behind the boat. Was running a downrigger, but did not get any action on it.

Had consistent hits, but only hooked the one. Tried to hook them and let them hit again and again to hook themselves. Nothing worked. Should I go littler with my hooks? I was using size 8 baitholder hooks. Was still pretty fun having alot of hits. Came home and threw it in with the chicken tenders my wife was making. Man, they are great tasting fish. Just wish I could figure out how to get them more consistantly.

how large are they there? try using gamakatsu #4 drop shot. or #6 eagle claw kahle. or tie up a double hook setup, with bait only on top hook. the rear hook often snags em around the head. head is legal. and it works. when submitting koke reprorts, allways list size of fish caught.
