I have never fished Tapps before so decided to give it a try. I have primarily been a shallow water fisherman but wanted to expand my skill set. Was looking on my sonar for fish in deeper water (15-30ft) off the main lake points. was having a tough time locating any large numbers of fish but managed to find a few. Caught about 5 smallmouth in 5 hours with a Carolina rig. really had to work for them. mostly small ones. Since this was my first time dragging a Carolina rig and I caught some fish I'll call it a successful day however I know there are lots of fish in this lake and I'll probably be back at it next week. Any advise is welcome. BTW does anyone know it the launch at the park on the north side of the lake is still open, Allen York park can be a bit crazy in the afternoon on a weekend and they charge $9.50 each way.
