I must say, it's so much nicer to be out during the morning instead of the afternoon/early evening. Hardly anyone out. Less wakes and waves. Feels good man.

Onto the fishing report.

I boated right away to the west side of the lake and tried the shallows for 30 mins. No bass, plenty of perch though. Small ones, ~3-4".

I went out a little bit deeper. I remember snagging the line the other day that had a hula grub. So I tied one of those onto a football jighead. Casted out around a point and nada. I casted out in front of an adjacent dock. Probably ~10-11' of water. I felt a thunk and set the hook. Ahhhh, feels like decent fish. It stays down, but digging around a lot, so knew it was either a SMB or maybe LMB. I get it up to the surface and see it's a pretty nice SMB. This SMB had length and a full belly, but it was pretty thin. ~17.5" @ 2lb 11oz.

I make several more casts with different lures around that area to see if anything else was down there, nada.

I start going down the shoreline. Casting towards the dock. Then out in front. Then out towards deeper water. I had a light weighted senko out towards the deeper water ~18'. Saw my line jump and reel in the slack. Set the hook and BAM! Feels like a good fish. Making my spinning reel scream. WOOT. It makes a splash up top and back down it goes. Very nice SMB. Hoping my 6# test holds, I just want a picture damn it. Woot, scoop it into the net. ~18" @ 3lb 3oz. Also a full belly.

About 10 mins later, I get a ~10-11" SMB on the hula off the end of a dock.

So after 30 mins of no action, I get 3 in 30 mins. Feels good man.

Then for the next hr, nada. Wind picked up a bit. Blowing me around. Eventually, I get another 10-11" on a crankbait.

I decide to boat to the east side at a point. Going through my rotation of lures, I get a strike on the hula in ~20' of water. Feels like another nice fish. I get it to the surface and see it's a SMB and another one about the same size chasing it. ~16" @ 2lb 3oz. I continued working that area for about 30 mins with a variety of setups, but couldn't get anything else. Called it a day by noon.

Not a bad morning for only 3.5hrs of fishing.
