After the downpour the night before, I decided to hit Medical in hopes the cool down in temp would raise up some monster Browns. No such luck. I worked the banks all afternoon with single hook Kastmasters with only one hit from a little rainbow. He quickly went airborne and flung the barbless hook from his mouth.
Oddly enough on one of my retrieves, I noticed a ton of what appeared to be little spiny rays following my Kastmaster in. I didn't realize there were any bass/crappie in this lake, and I was to high up on a cliff to really see what it was following me in. So I went down off a rock, hooked up a tiny jig and started to bottom fish in the rocky shallows northeast of the lake. Sure enough, I started hitting crappie left and right. They weren't what I went out there for, but still catching some fish is better than no fish! Also a couple of them were a pretty decent size to boot.
Has anyone else experienced crappie fishing here? I kinda think it could be a secrete in this lake, and make it more attractive in the summer months since the trout fishing all but dies here late summer. Especially with the temps in the 90s every day. It was a pleasant surprise to an otherwise skunk of a day.
