It was a windy and rainy start to the day when my father and I started on the lake at about 9am. Fishing was a little slower than our previous trips to Lone but the average fish size was much larger and more than made up for it. By 11am the sun came out and made for a beautiful morning until we headed back in at 1pm. We brought three very nice 14-16" trout to the boat for pictures before releasing and had another one make a great surface run before breaking off the fly. A green damselfly nymph fished very slowly with a full sinking line as well as a slowly presented sparkle green carey were getting the most hits.
A reminder to check the regs -every year- before fishing any lake. We had to gently remind a boat at the ramp to take off their barbed bait rigs as the rules a few years ago used to allow those on Lone and they were going from memory. Management of lakes can change over the years so be sure to have up to date information.
