Didn't think I was going to get to fish today because we are getting ready for a lot of people over on Sunday for BBQ and Seahawk celebrations so needed to mow the lawn, etc... BUT, the wife surprised me last night saying that she had something to do today and wouldn't be home until 2pm.. So I started getting the boat ready; for what I wasn't sure yet, and she realized her mistake with an addict like me that I was going to take full advantage of her absence!

Was planning on hitting the 1st ave. launch and working the Duwamish river system for a while and then head to Lake WA for some cutthroats~ but I got up a little later then I had wanted and didn't get to the launch until 6am and people were already parking their trailers out by East Marginal. So decided to head to Redondo to try for some late pinks or coho~ was on the water by 6:45 and started out with a green glow hootchie with green hot spot flasher trolling south. By 9am switched over to whole herring with a UV spin and glo and short bus flasher but still no luck! Darn, I needed to get this skunk off my boat since I got my new motor so pulled out at 9:30 and headed to the Big lake~

Was motoring over the south tip of Mercer Island by 10am and started my troll north starting with whole herring with small spin and glo and flasher. Had one drive by as I rounded the tip so changed out my herring and worked my way towards the Seward park. As I got near Paul Allens place I changed over to Brad's cut plug loaded with fresh cured herring strips and dropped it back down to 45 feet. No hits so thinking there may be some sea runs around brought it up to 28 feet and no sooner then I did I got a tap tap on the rod and pulled it out and it was fish on! Yeah! It was a feisty booger and he made a couple nice jumps as he got close to the boat and even took some line before succumbing to the net. Not huge but nice little 17" er we are baking for dinner tonight!

Pretty cloudy most of the day and was home before 2pm~ even had the lawn mowed before she got back and the motor ran great so all in all a very good day, just no salmon for me today.

Go Hawks!!!
