As the Chehalis river had been slow for salmon we decided to hit some fall trout and kokanee. I caught my largest trout from Summit Lake, a 3lb. 1 0z. rainbow. We caught 13 or 14 fish, released small fish (as we were trolling spoons), kept 9, 3 over 13 inches with the large trout going 20 inches. Great fight, I had joked to Melanie that I wanted a "salmon sized trout"as we had been skunked on the Chehalis for two trips the previous weekendwith others catching an occasional jack. Within 5 minutes or so lamiglass koke rod pops from clip with some serious knockin'.After a really good fight we bring this one to the net, dinner on the barbcue tonight!Unfortunatly the next time I put line in clip I run my hand up the rod to grab line and SNAP! Rod breaks. I thought I saw a half inch line of under color on rod last year, thought it was just that, color turned out to be inside layer of rod.We are taking a flight out of Portland towards the end of the month for my nieces' wedding,, will stop at lami to exchange rod on our way back, they're pretty good about replacing rods.Beat up a lot of large fish on that rod.All trout but two were caught on spoons, we did take one nice kokanee about 12 or 13 inches, beautiful fish, ate it last night, deepfried fillet , went with deepfried lobster.
