We put in a long day of fishing. I missed a couple of pike early in the morning then landed a 21" large scale sucker on a big swimbait. This is the second time I've done this, and I'm starting to think it's a pattern! Water clarity was compromised by a heavy rain the day before, and the chain lakes were murky as was the south end. The main lake was still clear, and a better bet, though fishing was still slow. Two nearly identical pike came to net, 28" and 4 lbs 8 oz each, both with treble hooks on a wire leader buried in their stomachs. Good candidates for the frying pan, each of them, as they were both pitifully skinny and probably eventual goners even if mine hadn't been hooked in the gills. Water was at 66-68 degrees everywhere. Not great fishing, as we added only a couple of decent bass to the tally, but I'm hoping it will pick up with cooler but more stable weather.
