After a menacing weather forecast, the day turned out mostly sunny with winds that changed about every 15 minutes. It actually was a good fishing day, not too hot or cold or windy over all.

K & I set out at 1pm. Last week the park and lake was quiet but it seemed like all the tourists returned this weekend with campsites very full, many walkers on the trails, kids swimming and lots and lots if kayakers. But, I think we were the only boat fishing. Temperatures were around 60 degrees. Only got chilled one time and tucked into some trees while we ate lunch. Water temps down two degrees from last week - averaging 67.4.

The first few hours we plugged and I seemed to be the only one connecting with fish. Then when we started trolling, K. seemed to be the only one and finally we both had success on the troll. We have been plugging with medium to large crankbaits targeting the larger fish. By 6pm when we wrapped, I had boated 15 fish and lost one at boatside, and K had boated 8. K. landed the largest bass and I landed the largest trout. Just as I was posing with the trout for a picture he flopped and went overboard. Dang. Didn't get to measure him but know that he was 20" at least. All 23 fish went home to grow bigger and maybe we'll see them next time.
