Couldn't imagine a prettier day on the lake! Arrived at the ramp at noon and fished until 6pm. Mostly sunny, almost no wind for most of the day, about 55 degrees. Fabulous!
We have had about 11 inches of rain in September and even local flooding. We were pretty sure the lake water temperature would be down after that, and maybe the fish too. Water temp had dropped to 59.6 - 59.9 and the level was up a little.
The largemouths were hard to find. We decided not to plug or drop shot, but to concentrate on trolling as we'd have a better shot to get any kind of fish. The plan nearly worked.
We caught and released 32 fish. All trout except for three small LM. I boated 2 of the LM and 7 trout. K. boated 1 LM and 8 trout. (We tied at 9 a piece). P. was the Man with 14 in the boat. No bass. All rainbows except his first-ever kokanee.
It was turning red and black, but not in brilliant hues yet. The picture of him washed out the colors he did exhibit.
Three different times K and P. had doubles on and landed five of the six fish. Not bad! (Who puts them on the fish? Me.
Heated soup on the BBQ on the back of the boat and just had a super day. Too bad the season is drawing to a close.
