Rainbow Trout fishing at Green Lake remains RED HOT!! Met Pete at the lake at 7:00AM, had our lines in the water by 7:15. Temp at outset was a chilly 45 degrees with nary a breeze. Water temp was 57 degrees, about optimum for the Rainbow. Fishing with Power Eggs (pink or red), also tried nightcrawlers, hoping a big Brown would saunter on by.
About five minutes in, Pete had a hit and reeled in a chunky 'Bow of about 14". Then it was my turn, and brought in another chunky, bright Rainbow. Long story short... we each had our limits and headed home by 8:30... each had lost three or four in addition to those caught. Had one fish of about 12 1/2", all others were from 14" to 16". All bright, colorful and feisty fish. I'm guessing that these are fish from the most recent planting, (5088, Oct. 2) as they seem so willing to bite... seems to me that the fish from the Spring plants should be stretching the tape at 17" and more. Whatever, fishing is certainly phenomenal ... hope it stays this way all Fall and into the Winter!!!
In between bites, was fun to watch the squirrels play. Oh, and by the way, the Cormorants are back! PTL!
