Checked out Sawyer for some Fall crappie action. Had to cover a lot of water to find biters. Most of the fish have moved out of the shallows and are stacked off the fast breaking sides of deep points. Small fish where schooled up but the larger ones seem scattered 15-18 feet down over 20 to 35 feet of water. Lots of little fish caught. Maybe 40 fish from 6" to 10". Only about 10 "keeper" sized fish going 10" to 14"...all released.

Also caught 4 cookie cutter 3 lb largemouths and lost one nice smallmouth that hit a jig 5' under a slipfloat that I was casting around the lip of the sunken island. Largemouths all hit the drop shot setup I was using for the crappies. Largemouths where all caught on grass points right along the break to deeper water.

Tanwax and Ohop are better as far as average size goes. Tanwax was great when they used to leave it open year around. All those fish hole up in the north end in the 28-30' hole. The west side is good during the Fall.

Most lakes are open year around, check the regs. It's my understanding that Tanwax is open year around for a few years, 5 maybe, then closes for the winter for a few years, 5 maybe, then goes back and forth like that, so I heard a few years ago.

Right now the regs say closes on Oct, 31, but maybe next year it'll be open all year/winter, check the regs next year, or maybe even call the WDFW and ask.
