Chironomid fishing with strike indicator and with full sinking line was effective. Mid moring was best. 15 fish to hand.

Chunky fish! What was the range in fish size? Chronomid fishing is such a mystery to me. When determining leader length, does fishing begin just off the bottom, and shorten that leader working toward the surface? Or the reverse? Was the full sink line effective with a slow or fast retrieve/troll speed? I've fished this lake on and off since a wee lad.

fishing 15 feet in 17 feet of water. Start from the bottom and then adjust. use hemostats to lower the fly to the bottom and set the indicator 1 -2 feet toward the fly to start. or with full sink I reel in to just off the bottom, remove the hemostats of course and fish that line that is left out. microslow retrieve sopping at various depths.
