Wind killed a day on the sound so after chickening out I did chores instead. Later in the day I wandered out of the way over to Greenlake as I keep hearing people say the fishing is good with the recent plant.
After telling people on days like today dress in layers and I arrive with no layers but the wind breaker that isn't breaking anything wind related. 1 yellow power egg and 2 pink power eggs, one of those has to work. I set up using a 2 ft leader and I'm wondering if that is too long is these windy conditions. 1/2 oz. weight and I try and cast. Well I found water. Tighten slack and start sitting. Rod starts to bend while I'm chasing a plastic top on a hobby box I dragged down. Crap - I'm going to lose the lid or the fish and rod wants to exit the rod holder I had brought out. The rod and reel are brand new so that becomes more important than anything else. I grab the rod, feel the fish head shake, and then it went slack. 1 lost.
Reset and recast. 10 minutes later the rod bends and it's hard to tell if that is fish or wind. Line goes slackish I decide fish. large 15 inch rainbow that didn't really fight. Wish the wind hadn't been so bad or the 64th st. dock hadn't been so loaded - I would have used my lighter rod.
15 minutes after that I get plowed again. Again the lid flew in the wind this time I didn't care. Fish fought harder than the other one. Landed. 3 and 4 are like the 2nd. I then switch the order of the eggs on my hook and get no further hits. I'm cold and decided to go home hoping for less wind next time and a chance to use the lighter rod.
