So, couldn't get anybody interested in going, except my dogs, in the beautiful weather, but had to go to Ellensburg from Yakima, and that's almost halfway, so it would be a waste of gas to not go, so I went.

Hiked out in the north part of the lake area, and fished some of the open backwaters I know. Hoped for walleye, but only got 3, biggest 18". The crappie and perch and bass and bluegill were still active though. About 40 crappie to 14" and a couple of dozen decent perch, 15 bass to 3lbs (all SMB), and some (10?) fair sized bluegill. Kept enough for supper. The wind was a factor. If you cast from upwind to the shore and dragged the lure back superslow through the surf and down, they nailed it. any variation from that and I don't think I got a bite. It was cool, in more ways than one. Mostly homemade plastics on jigs, and Jiggy lures with worm chunks. Checked the dogs for ticks, but the treatments seem to work well. Checked me for ticks, but the waders did their duty. Saw deer, and an egret, and a lot of waterfowl, but no people at all.
