I managed to slip in an hour of fishin' after doing some work at my mothers place up the Okanogan. I launched at the Corps. launch around 3:50. I opted to fish with barbs for the short amount of time I had. I trolled Rapalas in many sizes and colors. I fished 2 poles. I was running a floating rapala about 125' back and a diver Approx. 75' back. I was surprised by the number of hits or taps I had that did not stick. I had at least five hits that didn't stick. ( If I were to have been running single point barb less I would have taken that in stride. But, with 2 trebles? ) Oh well, this one tapped it and then smacked it. I was along the can line most of the time. He is 17'' & just shy of 4 LBS. Stomach was full of snails. As you can see it is a tagged fish from the CCT tribe. I thought I had a much heavier fish from the fight. But, you can see he has a full tail and is a beautiful fish. There was a high over cast sky with a drizzle coming down as I launched. At least the winds were only slight. Approx. 40 Deg. out. I'm sure if I'd had more time I'd have figured them out. I gave it a 3 rating due to only one hook-up. I had a hit every ten minutes or so. If those had stuck I'd have been done in 20 min. and rated it a 5!
Work is going to have me pinned down for awhile now. I'm glad I had the time on the water.

Nice to see a report on RW. For a 17" fish, that one's a hog. Thanks for the report. :-)

Hey Malottguy, it was a perfect way to round out a days work. I think we may have the place sold! If so, it will free up a lot more time for fishin"!

Hey hewesfisher, it was a true football. I am looking forward to the information from the tribe as to how old & what size it was upon release. I sure do enjoy reading your reports from Roosy. Keep up the good work.

Nice fish! How long can you keep fishing Rufus? and how early in the Spring? I have heard those March footballs are monsters!

Hey salmonbarry, You can fish Rufus as long as you want. As long as you have hand warmers, toe warmers, wool blankets, propane, enclosure, etc. LOL It does not freeze over. At least not that I have experienced. One time only did I break a skim of ice leaving the launch. Too much water movement & boat traffic. I've fished it in single digit conditions. The one good thing about bitter cold is the the water is usually like glass. The spring winds of March can be brutal on a small boat. I usually fish out of a 14' Livingston. In the past I only had an electric trolling motor and there were times I''d get blown off. As long as you can handle the cold it is fishable!!!!

Amen! Sometimes the best fishing out there is when the ice is freezing in the guides! Nice fish, and report.
