I've been getting killed in the Pike tally lately, but I did add one to the list today. A mere 21" weed rocket, but better than a skunking. Fish was in 10' of water off a rock point. Deep weeds are healthy, but have left me empty-handed lately. I know they're around, but I've seen few and caught fewer. Some big numbers have been put up, but not by me, and the biggest fish in the last 4 outings has been 24" with a total of only 8 brought to hand. The season isn't over, though, and the water is still relatively warm in the main lake, at about 48 degrees. Cooler in the shallows. Nice, clear water most places; maybe too clear. I saw a toad of a largemouth in 12' of water on a weed edge, but it was wise. Switching species, I've scratched out a few meals of Crappies fishing really slow with a 1 1/2 black and chartreuse tube. They're still carrying eggs, and there's a mix of 8-10 inchers to be found. Given 45 minutes or so on Monday, I caught 7, but it's hard to give them more time than that when I'm really after pike! I'm not on a pattern at all lately that's been successful; some on small spoons fished slowly, others on swimbaits fished deeper, but never hot action. If you're looking for advice on catching pike right now, look somewhere else
