A friend and I fished Merwin today from our kayaks. We were targeting primarily kokanee. I was running two rods with a long-lined rod at 100' no weight and a green Shasta tackle dodger with a green spinner hoochie on one rod and a opalescent Shasta tackle dodge with a pink hoochie with 1 oz eight at 30 pulls. My friend was running a Rocky Mt Dodge Pink Hyper dodger with a pink uv glow hoochie.

We trolled out of Speelyai bay primarily at 1 to 1.5 mph. While we both received several hits I'm the only one who boated fish. Two kokanee took the pink hoochie with the Shasta tackle dodger and two nice sized trout (17" & 18") were caught on the green hoochie. The 17" trout hit like a freight train. It was my friends first kayak and kokanee trip and she didn't boat a single fish which was kind of bummer. Sent her home with my catch. Hopefully she has paid her dues for next time.
