Hit Rock lake yesterday and we were the first rig there with a couple of bankers pulling while i was launching. It was cold so I started trolling just out from the boat launch in lieu of the long cold run to the other n of the lake like I usually do. Less than 5 mins in had the first 2 fish of Rapalas on the surface, both fish were identical 15" Browns that I released telling my partners that we could do better. We then went for about a 2 hour stretch catching only a handful of browns around 13-14". By the time we trolled all the way to th other end of the lake the Rapalas had lost their magic. I switched to sling blades and apexs and went deep with the DR's and it went crazy for about 3 hours hooking up with doubles and triples off the DR's. Most were 13-14' rainbows that were all released. Only kept 7 fish 15-17" 4 bows and 3 browns. We didn't use bait after the first 5 fish and it didn't seem to slow the bite down at all. They were hitting at 70' down and then also taking the lures off the surface before I could get the lines in the DR's. Made up for a lack luster morning. Nothing big but the fish were hard fighting and plentiful.
Nothing picture worthy but all fish looked healthy.
