Weather has been getting colder, so I figured I'd give Rufus a try. Had to also break in the new rods Santa brought me. 9'6 Lami..... Wait, I am losing focus. Got to the First set of pens. The ones closest to Seatons Grove. I had picked up a couple jigs from Big Wallys. And I am glad I did. We dropped anchor and one rod had Powerbait. Thought I would soak some bait while I got the heater going and other rods set up. Black/white and red jig, cast up stream and just let it drift in the current. SLAM.... Then the powerbait is getting hit. I told my Fiance we better stop fishing bait cause I don't wanna be done fishing in 5 mins. But knowing Rufus woods. I said lets keep both these fish. Both around 4-5 lbs. Then kept tossing the jig out. And we caught and released a bunch. Looking around at the other boats just fishing bait. Seemed that we had the better of the luck. Then after 1pm. The bite stopped. It would be hit or miss till dark. Water was 42 degrees, never got up above freezing. I'll be back and with more jigs. Give it a try. Twitching or just drifting them worked really well. Good luck and like always, Tight lines.

Thanks for the report.
P.S. Sounds like your Fiance is a keeper if she'll fish this time of year!!

Hi Alaska.... I know this was an old report.... but I just wanted you to know that when you've kept 2 fish each....fishing is done. If you caught your limit and kept fishing with jigs or whatever, technically you could have been illegal. I wouldn't want you to get screwed over by the Warden, but Rufus has been abused by the influx of Migrant workers fishing for food and not obeying laws and also the Russian influence that seems to be everywhere where they don't give a crap about the laws and take large amounts of fish illegally. The wardens like to screw us however, because we have the $ to pay fines and we understand English.
