I fished launched at Sammamish about 0845. Fished with Elijah Loves Fishing. We headed up to the weather buoy. Made just a single pass around the buoy. There were 2 other boats fishing from what I saw. Water was calm as can be. A layer of fog was above us, but clearly visible while boating.
I started off with Needlefish behind a Sepps Flasher. I went with that for awhile, switched to other Needlefish colors, no luck there. I usually head North, a little towards the East side of the lake. At some point I put on a wedding ring, tipped with a very small bit of night crawler. Sans the flasher. (Thank you to whomever recently reported with that)
Had a hard take down, which of course I didn't really see. The downrigger on my side of the boat is a little out of my line of site, slightly behind me. (that makes a lot of sense, lol) Fish came out of the clip, on the way in this was an active fish. At least 3-4 good jumps in the water. Cutthroat, 16.5"
Fished maybe 3.5 hours. My partner said I had 2 more drive-byes, which of course I didn't see either, lol.
Then at some point before we were done, he was thinking my rod was behaving a little oddly. I didn't bother to check it. After we got ready to pull the boat out, I pulled in gear. Had a Kokanee, about 15" in tow on my line. Came off at the boat side, and seemed to find it's strength to swim away.
Enjoyed very much fishing with Elijah. Had some great conversations about local lakes, etc. And I have to say a "Thank you" Elijah for watching my rod so well, and letting me know when things were happening. (-:
Guess it's time to move that downrigger a little forward.
