This would be such a better report had I actually caught the little bugger. Cabin fever has been running its course and I recently purchased more toys (musky lures) and was eager for an excuse to head down to my favorite western Washington musky lake. To my surprise, Lake Mayfield is at full pool and water clarity was pretty decent,in the ballpark of 15-20 feet depending on location. Chucked a variety of lures from bucktails, cranks, gliders and swimbaits. Again, more or less playing with new toys. I ended up having a sub 30 inch tiger musky that decided to investigate a slowly presented swimbait. It was somewhat clear that it was more looking in a form of curiosity rather than hunger but considering my zero expectations, I will take its lethargic drift in swim over nothing at all. The good news, Mayfield is at full pool and ready for boats. Although difficult this early in the year, I have no doubt that with patience, proper application and presentation, you can have success. Not to bad but be cautious of lake debris, primarily logs. Also saw schooling baitfish, hard to tell for sure but appeared to be pikeminnow.

As always remember Washington's 50 inch rule minimum on tiger muskies, so let 'em go!

I had a couple pics to post with this report but didn't hit the magic "upload" button. Nothing great, just showing the county park launch and lake level.
