Well I guess I will send out a report since none of the other boats did for this weekend. This is more of a caution report than a fishing report. First and foremost, Watch out for drifting wood!! I have never seen this much debris in the water. The paper said it was from an avalanche that slid into the lake up lake somewhere like big lake area or something that had the word big I think, and for a short time there was an ice berg drifting too. Nonetheless, however it got there, there is a ton of drifting wood, and large stuff too, so watch out! I was fortunate enough to keep the boat away from the big stuff.
Fishing.....well if you like trout fishing then you would of had a blast! I only fished a couple of hours starting at the yacht club only marking a few Lakers and no schools and no hits, I moved back down lake. I swung into Manson bay and took a peak and not marking anything I crossed over to the monument. There were a couple other boats, and that is where I tangled with the rainbows! I ended up making a few passes and ended up C/R 5 rainbows largest one at 18", and snapping a few pics of rainbows. I pulled up and zipped down to the rock cut, checked a few spots where I have them marked in my GPS and marked nothing and then choose to head in. It was nice to get out and relax on the water. Just as a reminder to all those who know and for the ones who don't know use extreme caution this time of year on Chelan. Not only the drifting wood, but the wind can kick up and in less than 5 Min. you have 2-3 even 4 foot rollers with the tops blowing off. If you have a smaller boat that's not very fast, I advise you to use extreme caution! It can get harry fast, and really none of the launches in the basin are very protected from the wind other than the city launch. Mill Bay was getting pounded when I pulled out. We all helped each other and got everyone out safely, but Man it was rough!

I only marked 3 schools of kokanee, with no takers. Water temp was 43.8, and weather was all four seasons, rain, sun and wind....well ok all three seasons... No snow.

I'd like to hear a better report. my last report was similar to this, with the exception that i did get a Kok, in fact all of my kok's this year have come in the same area as trout. One day i caught a kok, then swung back through the same area and caught 2 trout, its almost like they are swimming together. perhaps its a shared food source that is bringing them to the same areas? i am going to try to make it up there again soon, but may not be able to get there until May for the get-together. i am looking forward to getting some great tips there

My observations...er two cents worth - I've caught kokanee and trout together on Roosevelt. They were both full of daphnia zoo plankton. I have read extensive studies done on Roosevelt where both rainbow and kokes feed on the daphnia in the winter especially. The daphnia can be stacked by the wind against a windward shoreline causing the trout and kokes to feed together in the same area. I saw this on the sonar two days in a row on Roosevelt about 6 weeks ago.

PS I'm coming over for the WL get together. Never fished Chelan and I am really looking forward to learning from all of you "pros" on the lake. Alan

Hey Andy, I could n't agree more with you! It has been way to long. That's about to change though.
-NCW, yeah it's been a Tough go for most. Really I think what it is, is that we had a totally spoiled spring last year, and the fish were extra big and extra early for some biological over my head reason. We are all itching and have been jumping the gun. I think they will show up this next month and into May. A typical season is in late April and into June. They will come. I have heard word that they have been getting some good numbers up at safety harbor. That's quite a ways up lake past 25 mile creek. You know that old saying if you build it, they will come? In this case if you keep itching it they will come ;-) ha, lol. Later
