We hit the lake about 11:00 and fished until about 4:30. We were mainly bottom fishing. Between the two of us we pulled in nine trout. About half of our catch were little shakers, but since we were on the bottom with bait we "had to" keep them. My lady friend that likes to go out with me is, shall we see say, less than patient when it comes to trolling. I am going have to have a talk with her about this. We did catch a few larger fish (13"-15") that put up a real good fight and were a lot of fun to get into the boat. Other anglers on the lake seemed to be hit and miss as to if they were catching anything, so I would say if you are heading out to Spencer Lake bring a variety of gear and don't be afraid to make a change every 30-60 minutes if you're not getting hits.

I just checked the stocking report and WDFW just loaded Spencer with 5,800 very little rainbows (probably the shakers we caught) on the 17th. If you go out there you will probably put a mix of traditional Spencer Lake Pigs & shakers right now.

Nice report from Spencer! Have you been out to Kitsap Lake lately? I was thinking about heading out there Friday, and I am just wondering how it has been.

I went out with my neighbor Sunday and he was introducing me to fly fishing (I think he just cost me a few hundred dollars more!). We were late in the afternoon/evening and working on my casting more than anything, so I don't really count it (that and we didn't catch anything LOL). It's been about two weeks since I've put a serious hook in the water in Kitsap. It has been real consistent for me this winter both in size and numbers. I've had some friends do equally well in the last two to three weeks.
