Haven't been anywhere near Dayton since I stopped hunting there ten years ago. However, when I heard that only Spring and Rainbow were the only two lakes filled with fish, I made a half day trip of it.

Fished Spring Lake only, 1:00-5:00 with catching as many fish as I wanted, only keeping 4 jumbo stocks @ 15" apiece.

What worked best was thill bobber with a shad dart about hip to foot length. A small, bright orange jig was unbelievable. Don't try and open a beer, ten to 15 seconds is all the time I had between each cast. The first lunker actually came off a 1/4 oz egg sinker with small, gold dick nite on a two foot leader.

Also, a shout out to the three WSU students who were pounding beers and not hooking anything. Halfway thru the clinic, it looked like they could use help (three orange jigs and shad darts later, they were in business).

Next is Chelan....... any kokanee news up there????
