My 4yo has been wanting to go fishing for the last couple of months, so decided to take the afternoon off, scrape the pine needles off the boat, and take the family to Beaver Lake. We got the boat in the water about 2pm and saw quite a few fish surfacing on the water. There were about a dozen people fishing from the park and a couple of boats on the water. We proceeded to troll across the lake. Between my wife and two kids, we had three lines in the water. One Rapala, and two DN spoons. It didn't take long for my wife to start getting hits on the Rapala. She lost a couple of fish and finally boated a dinky stocker, smallest stocker I've ever seen come out of that lake. The two spoons were getting nothing. I traded out spoons (color/size), added weight, removed weight....nothing. Meanwhile my wife missed a few more hits. The spoons finally got a few hits, but nothing stuck. Things slowed down after that and we proceeded to make a loop of the lake with no action to show for it. I even traded out to a nightcrawler tipped wedding ring, which has been a consistent producer for us in the past....no love for that either. We finally ended up making a few passes in front of the park before heading home and my wife managed to hook into one more that was about the same size as the first. Called it a day at 4:30. Glad dinner was waiting for us at home because we sure were not dining on fresh caught trout!

Hey, you got the kids on the water. Those are good dad points. Now, if the fish would co-operate those would be bonus points! Good job!
