Good time to shake the dust of the light weight tackle and test out your gear. Shoecraft is loaded with planter rainbows right now running in the 12" range or so. Nothing that will wow your socks off but easy , fun fishing none the less. Good time to take the kids out or anybody thats new to fishing and be sure of catching them some fish.
I personally like to troll, so anything pulled fairly slow and shallow will work. I used a wedding ring setup tipped with a worm, but small dick nites or fllies are killer for these fish as well. I tie my dick nites straight to the main line and troll fast enough to put a wobble on the spoon , add a small split shot and away you go. You can also anchor up and power bait or use a worm under a bobber for these planter trout but be prepared to keep the ones you catch using bait or you end up killing a lot of fish. Thats why I like to troll a spoon as the fish basically unhook them selves at the boat.
The fish seemed to be in shallower water still even in the middle of the day. I think they stay shallow till they have been in the lake for a while to get acclamated to the climate. I had good luck right out the launch area to the right trolling close to that red bouy and following the shallow water markers. Fish showing all over the area. Pretty shallow water at the launch, be prepared to get the feet wet. Better for the smaller boats although gas motors are allowed as well. And a discover pass is required. Leave your valuables at home as this launch area is known for vehicle break ins.
