Dave Graybill and I hit the Banks Lake yesterday in an attempt to catch walleye, smallmouth, and rainbow trout. Coulee Playland Resort is holding the Triple Fish Challenge on April 26-27 where anglers weigh in the largest walleye, smallmouth and rainbow. So we wanted to see if we could do just that, catch all 3 in one day. Fishing was a 5 for smallmouth bass! The smallmouth are up shallow on Banks Lake and crushing crankbaits and jerkbaits. The fishing for rainbow trout was a 4 yesterday. We caught many rainbows in shallow around rocks by trolling Owner Rip-N-Minnows and Rapala Shad Raps and most were 14-15 inches. The walleye fishing yesterday was a 3. We were able to put several very nice walleye in the boat yesterday using the Macks Lure Smile Blade/Slow Death hook combo with a purple Smile Blade.

It was a fun challenge to target all 3 species and the Triple Fish Challenge will be a fun event for those to choose to participate.

The walleye bite and the smallmouth bite will both continue to be strong and improve as we move through April and into May.
