Lake Nahwatzel was fantastic. Weather was better than you should ever get in mid-April. Water temp was 52. Air temp was 61. Water was clear with a tint of green.
2 boats on the water from WWWC club. 5 fishers. The morning bite was great. Trolling was not the way to catch this day. You had to anchor up and be patient. We watched shore fishers pull many fine fish, catchables and jumbos. One seven year old lad brought in a jumbo as big as he was.
The Gold Finch did troll and got a granddaddy Largemouth Bass 4.5#
The Mr. Ed's raft anchored up at the old log load and they started to get bit right away. The color of the bait was Chartreuse. A simple hook line and sinker was all that was needed. Mike and Gary managed to boat 1 each 8+# jumbos that looked more like springers than trout and they did not have the Triploid bowed back. Mr. Ed was relegated to 2 catchables....though they were 12 & 14"
We all packed up at about 2PM as the bite was off till evening. Pictures as soon as Mr. Ed uploads them.
