Had to take a break from Hayden, so went to Fernan Lake over the weekend to start off the camping season with a friend and his kid. My main goal was to get an early start on Morels but it was still too early as we couldn't seem to find a single one. We targeted Catfish day and night, didn't seem to matter what time of the day, it was pretty consistent with a few breaks, they averaged 3-4 pounds, using liver and dead bait. The pike was a bonus, it weighed in at 19.10lb caught with 6lb braid and circle hook with dead bait, which he ended up swallowing.. I opted to keep it and get a mount. The few perch we caught, when opened up were full of white eggs through out the meat, some type of parasite, there's no doubt I won't be filling the freezer from that fishery. Had a great time and beautiful weather kept spirits high.
